With access to the small nature area, replete with ponds and surrounding woodlands, it provides an excellent space for outdoor play and evening tea enjoyment.
In the evenings, we embark on glow stick and torch walks, exploring the darkness. Additionally, full access to PE equipment and the indoor hall ensures ample opportunities for physical activities.
Our activities are open to all children, offering a variety of options such as key ring and wand making, along with a wide range of crafts including coloring books.
As yearly celebrations approach, we engage in themed crafts such as making Christmas advent calendars, crowns, firework pictures, and Halloween lanterns.
Good nutrition is something that we hold in high regard. All our meals are homemade, simple, yet adventurous and are packed with enough energy to ensure the children can be active and happy all day. We have a daily in-house chef that cooks onsite for all our children (Thriftwood, Norseywoods & Wickford preschool and nurseries only).
We want to teach children more about healthy lifestyles and encourage the adoption of healthy eating and active living. We love food variety, eating in the forest, working in our allotment, making homemade cakes for cold days and deliciously warming hot chocolate around a campfire.
Of course, some children have varied tastes and tolerances; we cater for all dietary requirements and have a robust system in place to ensure each child safely receives the right food.
Being situated on the school grounds, specifically for infants, the afterschool club offers a familiar environment for the children. This familiarity contributes to a sense of security and comfort. Moreover, the mixed-age setting promotes the development of friendships that may not naturally occur during regular school hours. This inclusive environment encourages social interaction and collaboration among children of different ages, enriching their overall experience at the afterschool club.
We actively involve the children in decision-making processes by soliciting their input on preferred resources based on their interests.
Staff provide detailed handovers upon collection, ensuring transparency and peace of mind. Our flexible collection policy accommodates parents’ schedules, including arrangements for afterschool club pickups and event attendance.
Parents/carers benefit from the setting’s location on the school grounds, providing familiarity with the layout and surroundings.
Our dedicated phone line enables direct communication between parents and staff, fostering seamless coordination.
Our separate room on-site allows for easy pick-up and drop-off.
Parents can conveniently access information about their child’s activities and meals through our online journal app.
