We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced, and nurturing 3rd in Charge Nursery Practitioner to join our welcoming Forest Nursery team. This is an exciting opportunity for an Early Years professional who is passionate about outdoor learning, child-led exploration, and creating inspiring environments where children can thrive.

Working alongside the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operations of the nursery while promoting high-quality EYFS practice both indoors and in our outdoor forest learning spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily nursery operations, by assisting the Manager and Deputy Manager ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices in childcare.

  • Supervise and support junior staff members, providing guidance and mentorship to promote professional development.

  • Plan, organise, and implement age-appropriate educational activities that stimulate learning and development.

  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and personalised care.

  • Monitor children's progress and maintain accurate records of their developmental milestones.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by implementing robust health and safety procedures.

  • Contribute to the organisation of nursery routines, including meal times, nap times, and outdoor play.

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as planning schedules, maintaining documentation, and liaising with external agencies when necessary.

  • Promote an inclusive environment that respects diversity and encourages children's individual interests.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working within a nursery or early childhood education setting.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

  • Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and early childhood development principles.

  • Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential.

  • Experience working with children with diverse needs is desirable.

  • Valid driving licence is advantageous for travelling between nursery locations.

  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth in a nurturing forest environment.
