Getting School Ready with The Treehouse Club

Ease the Anxiety: How The Treehouse Club Supports Your Child On Their Journey To Big School

It comes around every year, but a new set of parents and children all over the country reach a major milestone each Winter- the application window for Primary School in September.

Watching your little adventurer prepare for Big School is a huge milestone, and it is completely natural to feel a bit of anxiety alongside that pride. We completely understand those "what if" thoughts—we’ve been there, too.

At The Treehouse Club, we firmly believe that "school readiness" is about far more than just knowing the alphabet. It’s about emotional resilience, independence, and a genuine love for learning.

We understand that for many parents, the transition from the nurturing home-from-home environment of our forestry preschools to a larger primary school can feel overwhelming. That is why our curriculum is specifically designed to bridge this gap:

1. Building Independence Through Adventure Whether it's managing their own outdoor gear for a forest session or participating in our Montessori-inspired activities, our children learn to take care of themselves and their belongings—skills that are vital for those first few weeks in a busy Reception classroom.

2. Social & Emotional Confidence Transitions can be big for small people. Our focus on mindfulness, yoga, and "Positive Mental Health & Wellbeing" helps children develop the emotional vocabulary to express their feelings about starting school. We foster strong friendships and social skills that ensure they walk through those new school gates with their heads held high.

3. Tailored Transition Support Our experienced practitioners work closely with local Essex primary schools. We share progress reports and hold "settle sessions" that familiarise children with new routines. We also offer wraparound care at settings like Buttsbury Primary, providing a familiar face and a consistent "Treehouse" environment even after they’ve graduated from preschool.

Familiar Faces

We also provide highly rated wraparound care at various Primary Schools in the Essex area. By joining our Before or After School Clubs at their primary school, your child can enjoy a consistent and familiar Treehouse environment even once they’ve graduated to a more standardised classroom. To find out if your child’s Primary School provides Treehouse Club wraparound care, visit our Out of School pages for current settings.

Your Partner in the Journey

Choosing a primary school is a personal journey, but you don't have to walk it alone. We encourage all our parents to visit potential schools, attend open days, and chat with us about any concerns.

As you navigate your county’s admissions portal over the coming weeks, remember that the foundation your child has built at The Treehouse Club—grounded in nature, curiosity, and confidence—is the greatest tool they carry.

Apply now, breathe easy, and let's get them ready for their next great adventure!
