The Treehouse Club Forestry Nursery and Out of School Club are unique settings. Offering both a pre-school and out of school club for children aged from 6 weeks to 11 years old, we are open from 7am until 7pm and offer our children the wonderful experiences of attending a forestry setting and learning in an outside environment.

We are looking for an experienced Room Senior to join our growing team

Job description: Room Senior

Purpose of the job:

You will be one of two room seniors working jointly on a rota basis to support the setting manager. Being actively involved in the planning for the children, you will have responsibility for the setting when the manager is out and have a direct link to the Area Manager and senior management team.

Your working hours will be Monday to Friday from 7:00am until 4:00pm on the first week and then working from 12:00pm until 7:00pm the second week.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Promote Child wellbeing
  • Responsible as a keyworker for a number of children.
  • Complete any designated responsibilities for SECNO, ENCO and Health & Safety officer roles assigned to you
  • Management of the room
  • Deputise to the Management team as required, picking up their areas of responsibility.
  • Completion of the Monthly Working Document, as outlined by the Management team.
  • Plan with other room staff and deliver a range of activities for the children.
  • Promote a great place to work for staff and for children to attend
  • Opening and closing of room, make sure that the room is made ready for the day’s activities and closed securely at end of day.
  • Act as a role model to other staff and a point of reference for all policies and procedures.
  • Day to day smooth running of the room.
  • Undertake all aspects of practitioner work.
  • Fill in all paper work to fulfil your job role.
  • Make sure room displays and EYFS regulations are kept up to date.
  • In the unlikely event of senior staff absence to work such hours to make sure the setting is appropriately staffed and legal requirements covered.
  • To attend advertising events on a rota basis.
  • To carry out any other tasks to ensure the smooth running of the setting as advised by the management team.
  • To make sure your room and facilities used has a high level of cleanliness via a rota basis and is left ready for the next session.

Additionally to undertake such other tasks as are reasonably required to undertake the room leader role.

Person specification:

The ideal applicant will have the following skills and qualities:

  • At least two years of senior position experience at a setting within a nursery.
  • Strong team work skills and a proven track record of support / deputising within management.
  • Experience of working within at least a 30 child setting.

How will we evaluate you and your suitability to this role:

  • We will be looking for you to demonstrate relevant experience at your interview.
  • You will have the suitable skills and qualifications, with at least a level 3 in childcare.

Employment information:

You will be reporting to: The setting manager

The salary for this role will be:  £8.50 – £9.00 per hour

The initial length of probation will be: 3 months

Annual safeguarding training is provided to all staff and is an integral part of the setting’s Continued Professional Development training. All staff, volunteers and main contractors undergo appropriate DBS checks prior to appointment.
