Big thank you to all those who voted for our charities 2021. Our two top finalists included:
Billericay & Wickford Charity 2021 | (SEWH) South Essex Wildlife Hospital
Dedicated to putting ‘life’ back into the ‘wild’, SEWH is a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and public advice charity.
Now a new Hospital and Education facilities have been built, and they are able to deal with a lot more casualties and orphaned wildlife. No sick, injured or orphaned animal is turned away, requiring that the hospital operates 7 days a week. Staffed by paid veterinary staff, a handful of dedicated volunteers and Sue Schwar herself, who often have to work in hazardous conditions, late at night and in adverse weather.

Brentwood & Ingrave Charity 2021 | Wildlives Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre
Wildlives will provide care and basic medical treatment for wildlife and ensure that a bird or animal gets veterinary treatment where required.
With all animals brought into the Centre, the ultimate aim will be release them back into the wild. In order to do this successfully, it is necessary to ensure that they achieve a very high level of fitness and mobility (far in excess of that which would be sufficient for a domestic pet). Furthermore, this must be done without ‘taming’ the animal. An animal with no fear of people will, sadly, not live very long in the wild.
